Chelsea had won 2-0 against Bolton while Manchester United drew 0-0 with lowly Sunderland. A step closer to be the champions and English Football domination.

Couple years ago, two phD sets up a Google that now dominates the search industry. They were so lucky that a lot of companies turned down their quest of investors to sell their technology prior to setting up google. Even yahoo rejected them, saying to them to come back after they can give their technology a trial. Alas, Google's Yahoo's rival now.

I found that Google's business model that time is a little bit strange. Their income coming mainly from advertising. If a company like this presents in Singapore, or South East Asia, I don't think it will gain so much revenue. I just read recently from an article, that, though the number of online users in Asia is large, the popularity of Online advertising/purchasing is still small.

Anyways, what I like from Google is their commitment to put the customer experience above everything. Take a look at the Google's main page, it's so clean without any advertisement. I believe a lot of companies will pay a big sum of money so that they can put their logo in Google's page, but Google simply said, "No". I think that kind of attitude + superior technology have driven from two geeks to market leader in search industry.

I'll be like Google. My commitment is to put customer experience above all.

Last week was a week full of excitements for me. On wednesday, I went to club momo to see a Pitching competition (pitching is where a person explains his business idea to attract the investors' to finance it). Most of the presentation were high-tech ideas ranging from bioinformatics (mostly), Virtual banking System for Multi-Player Online Game (MPOG), and inter-changeable bra cups that make it possible for women to customise their own bra styles.

Regarding the title of this post, On Saturday, I participated in Lime's fleamarket. Located just next to Orchard's cineleisure, it drew considerable amount of attention from the public. Not a real big crowd, though, it was just good enough. My sister sent me some stuff from Bali for me to sell.

Fellen, donny, Dei and I operated the booth. Though Singapore has a not-so-good remark for the quality of its customer service, we realised that most customers won't mind to have a good customer service. This are some snippets on how the conversation in our booth went on:

(Two ladies pass by)
Dei: Hi there, want to feel Bali experience? Unique design with a very good price *smile*.

Dei: "How do you like your weekend?"
Customer: "It's okay"
Made: "Hey, there's no such thing as 'okay' weekend, .., but I do know that there's 'wonderful' weekend *smile*. It's not raining today, isn't it. This past few days, it rained every afternoon"
Customer: "Yeah2. So hopefully, it's not gonna rain so I can execute my plan"
... Some transaction and the customer is about to leave ...
Made: "Thank you. Enjoy your weekend, okay. Ahhh... don't forget that next week is a holiday, Good Friday"
Customer: "Ah, you're right. I will enjoy my weekend and holiday. Anyways, enjoy your weekend too, ya" *smile*
Made: "Of course, I always do" *smile*

Plenty of smiling involved, but it paid off. I love the experience. Giving me a thought to jump in to service industry. Anyways, by the end of the day, I shall give an award to Dei for the best marketer of the day.
