Good life is not complete without a great dinner

I shall repeat this again, "A good life is not complete without a great dinner". Especially, a nice cheerful dinner with great friends that you'ven't met for about 6 months or more.

Last Tuesday, I had a dinner with this bunch of great guys. Probably, we haven't met ever since we graduated a year ago. So, this dinner's theme was, "A celebration of 1-year anniversary of our graduation".

We exchanged lotsa bullcraps as well as good information. This is a little stub about their whereabouts. From left to right:

1. Oscar, aka the IT guy. This guy's knowledge about IT is awesome. Currently, he's assigned to the client site at NUS. He said there are plenty of food available in NUS, but they're just a way too far from his office.

2. Nicole, the kid. We use to joke that Nicole looks like has a kid look. It's only a joke, though. With her new hair style, in my opinion, she looks much more mature and professional. She's working at PWC currently, and just returned from Indonesia after attending her brother's wedding.

3. Vero, the girl who likes to take photos of herself. She's gonna work at Motorola. She'll be my colleague, but gonna be stationed at different building. She has a new wavy hairstyle which I think is great. Btw, I met her two weeks ago at the prom which made me rather surprised... *ehem*

4. Johan MK, aka the genius programmer. Now, he's much more surrounded by the air of formality compared when he was still in the university. The genius in computer programming, he's working with Avanade now.

5. Made... which is me. Surrounded by the air of informality... I was the only one wearing a pair of jeans and skateboard shoes.

6. Fida, the story teller. She's working with JP Morgan now. There was a time when she had a fainted idea to be SIA stewardess. A great girl to talk to, plus, she can cherish your day.

Awesome... they're all a bunch of great friends of mine. Hopefully, we'll have more events like this in the future.

The rewards of independence

in 1970s, East Timor declared its independence before Indonesian troops invaded her couple of days after the declaration. In 1999, East Timor won her independence back from Indonesia and became the youngest country in the world.

This is one of the rewards of her independence (Quoted from cnn.com):
East Timor, which won independence from Indonesia in 1999, stands to earn as much as $14.5 billion in Greater Sunrise gas revenues over 20 years.

It's so good to be free.

Da vinci code and the points of discussions

I watched Da Vinci Code 5 days ago and I said that the movie was incredible. I've read the book as well, so I pretty much know the story line before watching the movie. All I can say, the movie has presented the book very well in about 90 minutes. It's told about the essence of the novel.

The book has created a big controversy. It created "chaos" over a belief that has been established for more than 2000 years. People said that Da Vinci Code is only a fiction, thus we shouldn't take it so seriously. But that's not totally true. In my opinion, the books is not only about whether Jesus married or not; the book has some good points that most people probably miss out. It brings up some points of discussion which are:
  1. History can be used by the ruler party to strengthen their power
  2. Two wrongs will not make it right
  3. Asking question and trying to find the answer are the essence of human beings

1. History can be used by the ruling party to strengthen their power
A ruling party can 'change' history by destroying the information that they don't want people to see, and publish the information that gives supports to the legacy of their power. This happens everywhere, from the leaders in the village, kingdoms, and even in religious movements.

2. Two wrongs will not make it right
Just because the age of some statements is more than a thousand of years, if it was not right in the past, then it's still not right in the current time. Two wrongs won't make it right.

3. Asking question and trying to find the answer are the essence of human beings
If you wanna find out about something, you have to find it yourself. People will have different interpretation about something. Thus, the best way to find the answer is to find it yourself, especially for your way of life.

These points have a pretty deep meaning. If I discuss in details, it will touch sensitive issues about religions vs way of life, which some people might find it offensive. Heck, what is a religion if it cannot be discussed?

Think about this:
*three blind men claim touched different parts of an elephant. The nose, legs, and the tusks, accordingly. After that, each of them claimed they could describe what an elephant looks like, and they argued each other coz each of them gave different explanations. The debate continued till each of them wanted to physically enforce their argument.
.... if only these blind men admitted their imperfectness and discussed over a unified solution

Prom Nite '06

Last sunday, I went to a prom nite party aka graduation party. I've graduated last year, I was the MC together with my partner in crime, ddee. Freaking tiring night yet fun. Woke up 8.45am in the morning and was a bit late to attend regular morning meeting in the office. Check the pictures here

Hell, this was the blue-est monday i've ever had in this year. Sleepy. Yawning many times, falling asleep for a split of seconds when reading documents. Darn! Afterall, though, last night was a real cool experience.
